Gov. Schweitzer, Montana's Clown Prince

What a week. The Brian Schweitzer election tampering story was picked up by Montana's mainstream media and the governor has apologized, kinda. The Missoulian ran the full story today. Yesterday conservative activist Tamara Hall of Bozeman filed a complaint based on Gov. Schweitzer's own statements.

Hall said Schweitzer boasted in the speech that “he designed a plan to threaten poll watchers on Indian reservations, personally applied pressure to the elections officer in Butte/Silver Bow while votes were being tabulated and manipulated the media for purposes of diminishing a call for a recount.”
That's what he told the Trial Lawyers back in Pennsylvania. The comments were first unearthed by the MT Pundit blog earlier this month, but did not take off until, prodded by liberal blogger Don Pogreba, Pundit blogger Rusty Shackleford transcribed and posted the governor's own words. The revelations of the (1) governor's stupidity and/or (2) governor's corrupt tactics rocketed around Montana Dextra blogs and in three days it hit the mainstream media.

But he was just funning around.

A spokeswoman for Schweitzer told online publication NewWest.net that the comments were made in a "joking" manner.

"You know the governor," Sarah Elliott, Schweitzer's spokeswoman told NewWest.net. "He's an animated storyteller. He loves to tell stories. He was joking about the Tester election, at a time when we were in the shadow of Florida. He meant absolutely no offense. He got going and told stories in his usual animated way. That's really all there is to it. There wasn't any attempt to influence" the election or the results.

That's nice. Only, the conduct of elections is practically a sacrament in a civil democracy. The elections clerk and poll managers and election judges sweat bullets over this process. And on top of that Schweitzer revived Butte's old reputation for crooked elections, and insinuates the Democrats have the Indian vote and tribal officials in their pockets. All for a laugh from moneyed donors back East.

Nothing but class from Gov. Clown Suit. Now, how about some answers about that illegal "lawyer" of his?

We will see how well this lying buffoon does when it comes to manipulating his own reelection.

Regardless of their political stripe, Montanans are honest people. Brian Schweitzer does not represent them anymore, if he ever did.

Given how 35% of democrats love a good 'inside job' conspiracy while 26% are not sure, I'm surprised they haven't taken to the streets... or blogged up the comments over Schweitzer's boast. www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/general_current_events/president_bush/22_believe_bush_knew_about_9_11_attacks_in_advance

LOL, I think its funny how pissed off you are that NO ONE CARES about this faux scandal.

Yes it is kind of depressing that the left has so little regard for the election process. Anything to win, right?

Looks like the lawyers that Schweitzer was giving his stewardship report to about the investment return on their money were the top contributors to Tester's campaign at $427,231.

Oh really? You better check with Mark Trotsky, Grand Guardian of Election Honesty.

Has anyone checked the various different news accounts (billingsgazette.com newwest.net greatfallstribune.com) for how many different stories the Butte Clerk and Recorder has given of what happened that night? Usually if you're telling the truth, you only need to tell it once.

Yes I've checked. The number of versions is: 1.

"No one cares"? The New York Times cares enough to have a story about it. Check it out. Kudos, Carol, for being on top of this one before it hit big.

I believe his account.

I think he was "braggin", not "yarnin", y'all.

I think the story of the tribal police is an indication of just how the Governor uses his authority to intimidate and bully.
